Siamese cats are fascinating creatures, both in temperament and appearance. They are recognized for their striking color contrast, their fine aristocratic heads, amazing deep blue eyes of the almond shape, and the short silky coats. The cats' ears are long and pointed with open bases. Siamese cats are very graceful, lithe, and athletic. Their hind legs are higher than their front legs. The paws are oval shaped. The cat's tail is long and tapering. These cats are one of the most well known of the feline species in the world.

These cats are famous for their exceptional temperamental features. They are intelligent, people-oriented cats, friendly, and affectionate. The cat's fairly balanced activity level makes it most suitable for apartment living. One of the most distinctive features of the Siamese cat breed is their voice. They can be very loud at times. These cats are claimed to speak both with their voice and with their body.

They are good family pets, and are very indulgent of small children - they will tolerate liberties (not to be confused with ill-treatment) from them that they will not take from adults. When they've had enough, they simply make themselves unavailable. Most of them learn to sheathe their claws when playing with people, and it is rare to be scratched.

Points refer to the face, ears, tail, and paws - the term is generally used in combination with color. "Seal Point" means the cat has seal colored (dark brown) points, while a "Blue Point" has blue (gray) coloring.
